Isochron Imprinting reimagines personally collected spatial and light intensity data from the neighbourhood in Singapore where Wan Kyn grew up. Seeking new ways to present his meditative journey of wandering and rediscovery, this piece transforms typically rigid and impersonal data into an organic multilayered form with laser-engraved overlapping contours. The work illuminates a meditative yet technical process of retracing familiar spaces while revealing a deeper and more complex personal history intertwined with the area.

Sojourner’s Curiosities tracks Wan Kyn’s wanderings during the VISIONS Residency at Fondation Fiminco, Paris, France (@fondationfiminco). Starting on the day he landed this piece layers 8 different walks through the Parisian cityscape through the use of longitude, latitude and altitude data collected during his walk. Mapping and abstracting the data through contours and “metaball” forms, Sojourner’s Curiosities presents Wan Kyn’s journey in an anamorphous form much like his first explorations as a resident in Paris.
